Domestic Violence Programme
The Domestic Violence Programme provides one-on-one counselling or a group programme to individuals who suffer or commit domestic violence in the home.
The Programme is also aimed at educating the perpetrator in an endeavour to stop the individual from re-offending. The perpetrator is counselled or educated in a group programme and equipped with a number of effective, practical tools to help deal with their anger problems and prevent them from once again resorting to violence.
LIA Domestic Violence Programme develops the participants communication skills, identifies family issues, builds empathy for others, challenges and facilitates change with individual attitudes to violence, power, parenting, alcohol and drugs.
The Programme works directly to prevent violence and to develop an individual’s range of anger responses in a safe and constructive way. The individual will learn about their attitude to anger, violence and other people, develop an understanding and ability to manage emotions and develop a language to express these emotions.
The Programme involves developing the skills of validation, time out and assertion. These skills will assist the participants to develop better understanding of themselves, their situation and choices that are an effective alternative to manipulation, threats, and violence.
This Programme is delivered in a three prong approach;
- Programme for offender
