LIA protects the privacy and confidentiality of people participating in LIA services through formal means of storing, using and sharing information. This policy ensures LIA complies with the Privacy Act , and the Official Information Act.
LIA recognizes that the right to personal privacy and confidentiality is central to the rights of all people. LIA protects the personal information of all people receiving support from its staff.
All personal information is held for a specific purpose and that purpose is explained. The information is accessible to the person receiving support.
Informed Consent
LIA obtains people's consent to all aspects of service delivery, in accordance with the requirements of the Privacy Act.
LIA obtains the consent of each person or their appointed guardian prior to them participating in the services offered to them. The process of obtaining informed consent includes a full explanation of the options available to the person and their Aiga in a format that they can understand.
